Unveiling an Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have found plenty of entertaining indie games. However, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure features a character that is actually a piece of poop attempting to travel to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. Throughout numerous challenges, encounter boss fights and unlock a store to purchase outfits for your poop character.

Time your movements precisely, as a error means beginning again. Jump on air pockets to propel the poop higher, navigate fragile platforms, and interact with switches to open secret routes. Earn currency and use them on tougher stages in which gameplay intensifies.

In terms of design, the demo features vibrant level designs and a killer background music. The simple graphics with shifting geometric shapes could recall gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name similar titles where you are a piece of feces, gaming have long incorporated scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received notable recognition, like being named best at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the full game set to launch on computers this November.
